Spend a day visiting Sherwood’s wineries, each bringing its own flair and flavor to their estate-grown wines.
Start at Ponzi Vineyards‘ tasting room, which sits atop the Chehalem Mountains, and has some of the best views of the Tualatin Valley. Founded in 1970 by the Ponzi family, Ponzi Vineyards is internationally acclaimed for producing some of the world’s finest, limited production Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, White Riesling, Arneis and Dolcetto. (Open daily)
Grab a bite at the South Store Cafe. Housed in a historic landmark, this café offers scratch-made soup, sandwiches and other entrees for breakfast and lunch, as well as a full coffee bar and pastries. (Open Tuesday-Sunday)
After lunch, visit Hawks View Cellars, which features award-winning wines– including Pinot Noir and Syrah–sourced from the best known vineyards in the Northwest and California. Hawks View’s 50-acre Estate vineyard of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris has been sustainably farmed since its inception in 1991. (Open daily)
Next, stop at Alloro Vineyard, an artisan winery dedicated to creating handcrafted Pinot Noir on a low-yield, sustainable, 78-acre estate vineyard. Sample a flight of Alloro’s wines from its Tuscan-inspired tasting room. (Open Thursday-Monday)
The last winery stop is Blakeslee Vineyard Estate, which produces elegant and sustainably-grown wines, including a White Pinot Noir, which isn’t often seen in this part of the valley. Blakeslee also produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Rosé. (Open Thursday-Monday)
Travel to Old Town Sherwood and enjoy a classic Italian meal at Mason Italian Restaurant. This popular restaurant features an impressive menu of pasta dishes (including gluten-free) and a variety of entrees. (Open for dinner only, Tuesday-Saturday)
