Two-Day Trail

Located in western Tualatin Valley, Forest Grove offers several estate wineries, including some of the oldest vines in the Willamette Valley.

DAY ONE

Before heading for wine tasting, take a stroll along the pathways at Fernhill Wetlands. Fernhill is a world-class destination for birders, nature enthusiasts and walkers alike. The site encompasses nearly 800 acres and attracts various wildlife, including herons, hawks, eagles, beavers, otters and mink.

Now on to the main event…

The first visit is Apolloni Vineyards. Tradition, Italian, and family are the foundations of Apolloni Vineyards, and it specializes in the production of traditional Pinot Noir and Italian-style wines. The sustainably-farmed 40-acre vineyard’s location provides an ideal growing climate for Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc varietals.  (Open daily)

Now, on to David Hill Vineyard & Winery. With sweeping views of Oregon’s Coast Range, this is one of the most picturesque wineries in the Willamette Valley. In the tasting room, a 134-year-old historic farmhouse, taste David Hill’s wide variety of wines, including Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir, produced from some of the oldest vines in the state. After a day of wine tasting. relax and experience Forest Grove’s growing food scene with dinner at one of its newest restaurants, Kama’aina Comfort Foods of Hawai’i.

DAY TWO

Start your wine tasting tour at  Tualatin Estate Vineyard, one of Willamette Valley Vineyards’ premier wine-growing sites. Established in 1973, Tualatin Valley Estate is one of the most respected vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley. (Open Saturday-Sunday)

No visit to Forest Grove is complete without a visit to SakéOne, which holds the distinction of being the first American owned-and-operated saké brewery in the world. Sample a flight of SakéOne’s premium saké and learn more about the process of making this traditional beverage during one of its daily public tours. (Open daily; tours at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.)

Cap off your two-day tour of Forest Grove wineries with a delicious meal at Bites Restaurant. This fusion eatery takes many Asian specialties and gives them a unique twist for a satisfying meal.
