DAY ONE
Tasting and tour of SakéOne
SakéOne, the first American owned and operated brewer of craft saké in the world, bottles under four distinct brands (Momokawa, Moonstone, G, and Peaceful River), and leads the fast-growing category with distinct styles, flavor infusions and a penchant for education and sharing their unique beverage. A visit to the SakéOne Kura (brewery) is an educational experience at all levels.
Dinner at Bites Restaurant
Dine at Bites in Forest Grove. The East-meets-West fusion restaurant has fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Most dishes are under $10, so you can enjoy a tapas-style meal.
Overnight at McMenamins Grand Lodge
Recharge in one of the hotels newly renovated hotel rooms, and you’ll soon be on the mend in Doctor’s Office Bar, where pool tables beckon. Choose from distillery flights or signature cocktails, or unwind with inventive beers and wines crafted from the very grapes and hops that characterize the Cascade region. And don’t forget the happy hour from 10 p.m. to midnight. Late night revelers may meet the Lavender Lady, whose spirit is said to dance through the halls here. Spirits and historic figures are commemorated with fanciful art and local photographs.
DAY TWO
Coffee cupping at Dapper & Wise
Dapper & Wise’s mission is to source and roast the best coffees they can find, to keep inventing new ways to treat employees and coffee producers better, to be funny slightly more often than they are serious, to consistently offer the tastiest coffees and beverages in their cafes, to be at minimum very nice to everyone who walks in the door, to teach friends and customers about coffee in a nice and unpretentious way, and to have fun while doing all those things.
Lunch at Chennai Masala
Lunch at Chennai Masala, rated as one of the region’s best Indian restaurants. Specializing in dishes from both northern and southern India, Chennai Masala’s lunch buffet attracts a diverse crowd.
Wine Tasting at Ponzi Winery
Founded in 1970 by the Ponzi family, and now owned by acclaimed French champagne maker Bollinger, Ponzi Vineyards is internationally acclaimed for producing some of the world’s finest, limited production Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, White Riesling, Arneis and Dolcetto.
Wine Tasting at Hawks View Cellars
Hawks View creates award-winning wines sourced from its estate, as well as from the best-known vineyards on the West Coast. Just 30 minutes from Portland, Hawks View features stylish tasting room, comfortable picnic grounds, and stunning mountain views. Planted in 1991, the 50-acre Hawks View Vineyard offers ideal growing conditions for Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The state-of-the-art winery provides winemaker Don Crank with the perfect space to masterfully create exceptional Hawks View wine. The winery recently was purchased by a Temecula, California winery, Ponte Winery.
Dinner at decarli
Decarli restaurant is committed to showcasing Oregon’s bounty of seasonal ingredients. Chef Paul Decarli’s culinary style draws on his Swiss-Italian-American roots, with menu items such as pizzettas, linguini and oysters. The restaurant’s interior reflects the Decarlis’ approach to food and wine—inviting and authentic.
