Tax-Free Shopping and Farm Tour of Tualatin Valley
Tualatin Valley boasts some of the best shopping in the state. Pair our premier shopping centers with farm experiences, and you have a getaway that is uniquely Tualatin Valley!
DAY ONE
Start off a day of tax-free shopping at Washington Square located near three of Portland’s main roadways (I-5, HWY 217 and HWY 26). With five major department stores, 170 distinctive shops, nationally recognized restaurants, such as the Cheesecake Factory, and a large food court, Washington Square is a shopper’s paradise. This shopping center even boasts Oregon’s largest Nordstrom.
Have lunch at South Store Café, a quaint country cafe situated in the heart of Tualatin Valley’s agricultural area. The sweet yellow building is a cozy lunch spot for farmers, winemakers and visitors alike. From old-timey meatloaf to health-conscience matcha lattes, this cafe is a must-stop location for any visit to Tualatin Valley.
Next, pop over to Smith Berry Barn, located across the street from the cafe. The historic barn houses aromatic candles, lotions, honey and teas. Basically, it’s a delicious heaven. Surrounding the barn store, seasonal u-pick and garden wares tempt even those with a black thumb.
If your trip falls in June or July, then follow the scent of lavender to Mountainside Lavender Farm. Lavender fields are good for the soul. Bring the fragrance home with you by way of Mountainside’s massage oil, eye pillows and lip balm (all made with lavender from the farm).
Next, hit the books at Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing in Beaverton. This sister location to the famed Powell’s City of Books in downtown Portland is an ideal addition to a Tualatin Valley shopping itinerary. At 32,500 square feet, filled with new and used books, appearances by noteworthy authors, and a knowledgeable, book-loving staff, this bookstore is a haven for bibliophiles.
For dinner, go for hearty German fare at the new Bargarten Bavarian Social Haus. Nosh on German sausages, schnitzel and a variety of meat dishes, which pair well with the menu’s selection of German ales.
After a day of tax-free shopping, hunker down in one of our hotels and get a good night’s rest for your next day in Tualatin Valley.
Tax-free shopping abounds in Washington County, with everything from high-end malls and shopping centers to antique shops and specialty boutiques. Convenient access from freeways minimizes headaches and maximizes shopping time!
DAY TWO
Jump start the day with a tax-free shopping spree at Bridgeport Village for more tax-free shopping. This is of the Pacific Northwest’s premier fashion and lifestyle shopping centers, and offers one- of-a-kind boutiques and well-known brands including crowd-pleasers such as the Apple Store and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th.
Tea aficionados flock to the Stash Tea Retail Store, which features hundreds of varieties of loose-leaf and bagged teas made with leaves from around the globe. As one of the first internationally recognized tea brands, Stash Tea remains to be one of the pioneers of Oregon tea.
Head back into Tualatin Valley’s agricultural paradise with a visit to Unger Farms. Pick strawberries, peruse the gift shop and pick up some local wines, crafts and products, or enjoy a sandwich or berry treat from the Berry Café.
Drive into downtown Hillsboro and shop at the collection of shops along Main Street. Select a handcrafted piece of art from Perks of Art, shop the home decor at the Artfull Garden, or sample the chocolates at Study of Sweets.
