Beaverton, Oregon: Many Surprises Await in

Beaverton is Washington County’s second-largest city, with a population of more than 90,000. Nestled in the eastern edge of Tualatin Valley, Beaverton is surrounded by farmlands and natural resources and boasts 30 miles of hiking trails and a 25-mile network of bike paths.

Beaverton has the distinction of being the state’s most ethnically diverse city in the state. Several events throughout the year celebrate this diversity, including the International Celebration, Fiesta Latina and Ten Tiny Dances, a showcase of dances from across the globe.

Beaverton’s Historic Downtown District offers many surprises, including history and art and culture, where quaint antique and specialty shops dot the area, and highly acclaimed restaurants and shops attract food lovers from around the Greater Portland area.

This growing city also is home to a variety of attractions, family entertainment centers, and arts and cultural offerings. In recent years, Beaverton has gained recognition in culinary circles and has attracted many foodies to the area with the Beaverton Farmers Market—the largest “all-agricultural” market in the region—and its collection of acclaimed restaurants, specifically its variety of authentic Korean eateries.

In the agricultural region of Beaverton, visitors can visit u-pick farms and farm stores during summer harvest season. Two wineries—Cooper Mountain Vineyards and Ponzi Vineyards’ Historic Estate—also are located in this lush agricultural area.

Downtown Beaverton is becoming Tualatin Valley’s premier dining destination with nearly 60 restaurants within walking distance of the Beaverton Central MAX station. Beaverton’s authentic eateries have been recognized for their own contributions to the Portland region’s international culinary scene.

Beaverton’s veteran restaurants, such as decarli (Italian), Nak Won (Korean) are joined by relative newcomers, such as Ev Novo (Pizza) and Beaverton’s first food cart pod, BG’s Food Cartel.
