Accessible Nature Trails
Wheelchair users can venture out on many trails throughout Tualatin Valley. With easy to navigate paved and compact gravel paths, these nature areas are ideal for all abilities.
Located just outside of Beaverton, Cooper Mountain Nature Park overlooks the Tualatin Valley. This park features accessible restrooms, playground with accessible features, and 3.5 miles of compact gravel trails that traverse through forests, prairies and oak woodlands. View park map (PDF) >>>
Rood Bridge Park, located in a rural area of Hillsboro, has 1.8 miles of trails–paved and soft-surface, which lead to developed and natural areas of the park, including the Lloyd Baron Rhododendron Garden. Rood Bridge Park also boasts the only accessible boat launch along the Tualatin River. View park map (PDF) >>>
Situated in the heart of Beaverton, Tualatin Hills Nature Park features 1.5 miles of paved trails (and 3.5 miles of natural surface trails) through diverse habitats. Open year-round, this wildlife preserve is an ideal location to observe seasonal changes in nature. The park is accessible via the MAX light rail. View park map (PDF) >>>
The newest trail to be completed in the region is the Tualatin River Greenway Trail. This easy, paved trail is a 3/4 mile path that runs adjacent to the Tualatin River. The greenway trail allows nature lovers to stay in the present with the beauty around them while simultaneously learning about the Tualatin Valley’s prehistoric past via interpretive signage. Inclusive Outfitters
Thanks to outfitters like Adventures Without Limits (AWL), which offers inclusive outdoor recreation to adventurers of all abilities. Equipped with fully outfitted adaptable gear, the great outdoors are no longer out of reach to people with physical limitations or disabilities. Each month the Forest Grove-based organization offers expertly guided trips around the state, including several that are right here in Tualatin Valley.
In addition to outdoor adventure, Tualatin Valley also offers many other activities to round out your getaway, such as wine tasting, acclaimed restaurants and evening theater productions with accessible seating.
Adventures Without Limits provides outdoor recreation trips and gear rentals for people of all ability levels, ages and backgrounds. Offering kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, snow-shoeing, and cross-country skiing trips, Adventures Without Limits leads, instructs and facilitates single and multi-day adventures.
Cooper Mountain Nature Park has many accessible features, including restrooms, play area and compacted gravel trails designed for wheelchair accessibility.
Rood Bridge Park features paved paths that take travelers through different developed and natural areas of the park. The park also features a wheelchair accessible ramp access to the Tualatin River.
The Tualatin River Greenway Trail is fully paved and features natural artifacts, including erratic boulders, cast fossils and interpretive signage describing how the Ice Age affected the area.
Tualatin Hills Nature Park, which can be accessed by car and by the MAX light rail, has 1.5 miles of paved trails and 3.5 miles of natural surface trails.
